States across the union are desperate for money, and it's starting to show.

In Georgia State Senator Jack Murphy is pushing for a $5 admission surcharge for strip clubs. In California, Assemblyman Tom Ammiano wants to see marijuana sales taxed. The federal stimulus package just saved New York from plans to tax "tax sugary drinks, haircuts, manicures, bowling, skiing and online music downloads."

Not every state is looking to raise taxes, though. Some are searching for more creative ways to cut costs. Iowa is currently considering cutting their license plate requirement from two per vehicle to just one, and one Municipal Court in Ohio is refusing to hear cases unless plaintiffs bring their own paper.
