All signs point to the failure of a long-shot bid to overturn California's Proposition 8. The evidence:

* Last night, police barricades began appearing in San Francisco's Castro and San Diego's Hillcrest districts, both considered to be GLBT neighborhoods.

* Some ruling from the court was due to be handed down on Thursday.

* Thursday also marks the 30th Anniversary of the White Night Riots, when San Franciscans demonstrated violently over the shockingly lenient seven year prison sentence former supervisor Dan White was given for the murders of Mayor Moscone and Supervisor Milk. Milk's birthday would have been Friday. The ruling due Thursday has been delayed, reportedly after current SF Mayor Gavin Newsom informed the court of the anniversary.
