Critics, Moviegoers Trash 'Terminator'
Share |
It's a hard time to be a Terminator fan: On Monday, Fox officially announced the cancellation of the well-reviewed fan favorite Sarah Connor Chronicles, and if the reviews are to be believed, Terminator: Salvation... stinks.
The reviews for the latest installment in the Terminator franchise aren't pretty. Almost equally bad reviews didn't stop Wolverine from raking in nearly $200 million in its first week before quickly fading into obscurity. Can McG's Terminator: Salvation pull off a similar feat?
Here are some of our favorite reviewer quotes:
 "Hokey as hell."
 - Reeling Reviews
"Never for a single moment makes a convincing argument for its own existence."
"After scrutinizing the film, I offer you my summary of the story: Guy dies, finds himself resurrected, meets others, fights. That lasts for almost two hours."
 -Roger Ebert
"It's damn near close to character rape."
 - Flick Filosopher
"McG rips off so many scenes from other films, I wasn't sure which movie I was watching!"
 - From one of the film's few positive reviews from Outtakes with Fiore.
"Infatuated with mindless explosions like an infant with fecal matter."
 - Sci-Fi Movie Page
"Who ever thought in 2003 that we'd look back on Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines as the good old days?"
 - San Francisco Chronicle
"A tale told idiotically, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing."
 - St Louis Post-Dispatch
"How could such a great idea go so horribly, horribly wrong?"
 - Toronto Star
